Conservation Optimism

Alan Watson Featherstone is the founder of the rewilding charity Trees for Life. This short story tells of his journey and philosophy in his own words.

There are hugely dedicated people around the world undertaking incredible work to help protect and enhance the world’s biodiversity.

It is my strong belief that by telling these stories we can inspire people to engage with the world around them and support projects working to enhance our global heritage.

Conservation is all too often portrayed as all ‘doom and gloom’ but I believe that by inspiring and highlighting the amazing work being done we can engage with a wider audience and generate a much stronger voice.

Documenting Conservation in Action

These two films were created to document how and why the South of Scotland Golden Eagle Project is translocating golden eagles from northern Scotland to the Borders region in the south.

There are so many exciting conservation projects happening around the globe. I want to document these and show the world what amazing work is being done to help protect biodiversity. If people don’t know what is being done it is hard for them to lend their support.

As a conservation practitioner, I know the work comes first, the filming second. It is my philosophy to do all that I can to ensure the smooth running of any conservation work, regardless of the needs of the camera, so if I am on location with you and you need an extra pair of hands the camera goes down and I will get my hands dirty with everyone else.

Sometimes, it takes a bit of extra creativity to get the message across. Injecting a bit of fun into a serious message can often help deliver a more effective message.

I can help you create a fun and engaging animation to help tell your story.
